Money Monday- Creating Art

Money+Monday.jpg

Have you checked out the prices of art lately?  Goodness!!  If I want to spend $300 on a piece of art I'll check out Etsy.  I am sorry but spending $200 for a cheap print in a cheap frame doesn't jive with me.

How can you save $ and create your own art?

#1- Turn your own photography into art.  You can have large pictures printed at Walgreens, Walmart, etc.  Watch for their sales.

#2- Shop for quality frames when Hobby Lobby and Michaels have their sales.  Keep some handy and when you get into the artsy mood you have them available.

#3- When art supplies stores have canvas on sale pick some up.  You would be amazed what art you can create.

#4- Frame colorful napkins

#5- Wrap beautiful fabric around a canvas

#6- Shop Etsy

#7- When in doubt type in "DIY ART" into Pinterest

We must be of one mind--I picked up a ton of canvas from Michaels while it was on sale and have been thinking about wrapping some lovely printed fabric around a few panels for some DIY wall art. I'm not the sort to spend $300 on artwork either :) I like to browse stores like Pier 1 for ideas of things I can DIY, like fabric wrapped frames, paintings, neat-o candle holders, etc.
