Day #3- Style Me March Challenge

As you may know I am taking part in the "Style Me March Photography Challenge".

Please take a moment and visit Bow ties and Bettys blog for a full description of the challenge.

The challenge for day #3 was to go Parisian.  When I think of Parisian style I think chic, black, sexy, confident and sultry.  Paris to me means romance.  When I think of romance of think of red.  Starting to picture my look???

As I've said in previous posts I am recovering from a sinus infection and other yuckys but I had my hubby snap a quick picture before we went grocery shopping.  Yes... I am normally the girl in make up and heels on a Sunday morning buying milk.  :)
He took this pic before we jumped in the car around 6pm.  Sorry for the bad lighting :(
Top: Avenue (December Clearance $6.99)
Cardigan: I can't remember. I've had it for awhile
Black Straight Leg Jeans- Burlington (Last year $15.99ish)
Leopard Heels- Kmart (Clearance $9.99)

I think my look echos Parisian in a way.  Love my cardigan and red ruffle top.  My leopard heels are my FAVS!! So comfy!  What girl doesn't feel confident in a pair of sexy black pants??

Close up of my cardigan.  Hard to see but it has ruffles at the bottom and when its buttoned I have a waist!!!  :))))

Love these shoes!!!  Note to self... Hem pants....

Day #2- Style Me March

As you may know I am taking part in the "Style Me March Photography Challenge".

Please take a moment and visit Bow ties and Bettys blog for a full description of the challenge.

Unfortunately I am down and out with a horrible sinus infection and other yuckys!  I have been home from work for almost 3 days now and Im just rotating the jammies.  I haven't worn a shoe, article of non-fleece clothing (except cotton tees), or anything else that would require major effort in 3 days.

The challenge for day #2 was to wear your hair in a braid.  I am not afraid to admit this but I am HORRIBLE at braiding. Seriously... horrible!!  Around 2pm today I started feeling a little ambitious so I had the bright idea to jump in the shower and do a quick side braid.

EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!!!!  Apparently when you are taking some heavy duty sinus meds you should not attempt to do anything with your hands.... EVER!!  After 15 minutes of fussing with a braid and my husband saving me from a mini melt down he looked at me and said "Why don't you just post one of your picture things?"  He meant pinterest. :)

Part of the challenge is to take a picture regardless of camera quality. To quote Bow Ties and Bettys BlogThe point is not to create brilliant photography, just to capture the moment to share & hold yourself accountable to trying new things all month."  To achieve this I decided to show you a picture of how I wore my hair for the last 3 days.  :)  Hubby took a quick picture while I was relaxing with the dogs watching Project Runway.

So there you go... Mandy Jean al-naturale. No make up. No hair product. Just a sinus medicated induced smile and a bobby pin holding my bangs back. :) I also have on hubby t-shirt.

Not to disappoint my braid inspiration seeking friends here are some of my favs from pinterest.com

We All Love A Challenge.. Right???

As I'm sitting here with a horrible sinus infection and cold I decided to cruise around some new fashion blogs and get some inspiration.  One of my FAVORITE blogs (Fab Finds Under $50) posted about this style challenge for March.  Who doesn't love a challenge?  I tend to be a planner and I need things to be in order.  I love daily challenges like this because I do not get overwhelmed and stressed.  Also, THESE ARE GREAT IDEAS!!!

Please take a moment and visit Bow ties and Bettys blog for a full description of the challenge.

I missed day one but for the sake of jumping in my current favorite color (I change!) is teal or turquoise.  Living in New Mexico I get A LOT of inspiration for this color.  I hate to break the rules the first day in but yesterday I wore sweats because I was home sick.  Here are some BEAUTIFUL teal/turquoise pieces I found on pinterest.com.

If you are interested in taking the challenge too leave me a comment and I will follow you blog.  I love seeing the creativity of bloggers!!

Also, don't forget to follow me on pinterest :)

February BirchBox!

In December I decided to sign up for Birchbox.  Part of my new years resolution was to work on finding myself again and (like most girls) I love makeup and beauty products.   I never thought one little box with pink paper would make me so happy!

Birchbox is a monthly beauty sample mailing.  It is $10/month and every month you receive 4 to 5 high end samples to try.  What I like about Birchbox is you take a beauty quiz and the samples are picked out for you.  If you don't like the samples you are getting you can change your quiz and try again.  Easy peasy!!  Also if your friends sign up for Birchbox and use your link you get beauty points for products. :)

If you are interested in trying Birchbox follow this link.  I never thought $10 would make me run to my mailbox!

My cute little box.  Love the color of the gray paper.  Who else is loving gray right now??

The contents of my box.  Ignore the black card in the back.  That actually came with MyGlam and I mixed them up.

"This months samples are designed to highlight your awesomeness"

Yes, I was one of the lucky ones that received the single-use stick-on liner strips.
Im not sure about these.  I plan on trying them in a few days after I get my eye brows done.

I let a gal in my office use one of them.  They actually looked cute on her.  A pain to put on but they were actually really cute.  She kept saying how funny they felt.

Here is a video from BirchBox on how to apply the stick on eyeliner.

"The French all seem to have one thing in common: perfect skin. Maybe it’s in their genes, but we suspect their savvy skincare regimes deserve equal credit. Behold this unisex moisturizer, a favorite of hip Parisian girls and guys, which hasn’t been available stateside until now. It’s made with an all-natural blend of botanicals to leave skin soft and matte."

I just tried this cream on my face.  I have very dry and sometimes sensitive skin.  It feels like a light cream when you put it on but dries VERY quickly.  My face feels moisturized and very soft. It also smells great.  The full size is 30mls for $22.  THAT IS CHEAP!!!!  If you use it twice per day you could maybe stretch it for the month.  Honestly to cover my face did not take much cream.  :)

Free music from Green River Ordinance.  They are indie rock.

The perfume smells spicy.  I have horrible allergies right now so the only thing I can say is I CAN SMELL IT!!  :)  Mr. Chic liked the smell but thought it was alittle spicy for a woman.  My bloodhound also sneezed at it.

HOW IT WORKS
"Supersmile’s powder rinse contains Calprox®, a whitening weapon unlike any other. A mild form of calcium peroxide, Calprox® safely gets rid of stains without damaging your enamel. Meanwhile, sodium bicarbonate eliminates germs and plaque. Since the formula doesn’t contain sugar or alcohol, there’s none of the stinging sensation associated with certain blue mouthwashes that shall go unnamed."
HOW TO USE
"Tear open the packet, and fill it with water. Swirl to dissolve the powder, and swish around for half a minute or so to enjoy minty fresh breath."
When I was opening my box Hubby grabbed these.  He wants to try them.  Mr. Chic said he would give an honest review.  :)

I am the most excited to try this product!  I DO NOT like wearing foundation but usually force myself to for the sake of evening out my skin.  I love love love love moisturizing tint!  I can not wait to try this tomorrow.  The color they sent me is called pearl.

The website says the full size is 1.7oz.  For $38 that seems a little pricey for me.  It does come in 5 colors.

February MyGlam- CANCELING SUBSCRIPTION!

In December I decided to sign up for Birchbox and MyGlam. Part of my new years resolution was to work on finding myself again and (like most girls) I love makeup and beauty products.  This month I received Birchbox, MyGlam and Julep.

MyGlam is similar to Birchbox.  It is $10/month and every month you receive 4 to 5 high end samples to try.  What I like about MyGlam is you take a beauty quiz and the samples are picked out for you.  If you don't like the samples you are getting you can change your quiz and try again.  Easy peasy!!

I am canceling my subscription to MyGlam as we speak.  I am happy with my samples this month but I think in general the company has some growing to do.  I recently emailed them to update my cc on file because I recently lost my debit card and was told they have no way of updating the card. I would need to unsubscribe and start over.  Not a big deal but their subscriptions are currently closed.

I hate sounding negative and giving a company bad feedback but this type of customer service doesn't work for me.  With Birchbox I was able to update my card via my profile and I will still receive my March box.  :)

I thought about NOT posting MyGlam this month but I still want to share my box with you :)  Im just not going to go into a bunch of detail or include links.  :(

My bag

This little make up bag is so cute!

They gave me chocolate :)

Cool shimmer.  Its a pretty soft emerald color

Details of my box

This was a cool thought but I went to their site.  Everything is WELL over $100.

I've used these masks before and LOVE THEM!

Sorry we couldn't have a better relationship MyGlam.  I did really like you :(
